I don’t like microwave ovens, and wouldn’t care if I didn’t own one. In fact, it wasn’t until just before I got married that I bought one, and then only because my wife insisted that we have one. However, I’m not above using the one we have. Since I’m too lazy to cover most things I put in the microwave (which is true for my wife, too), the inside gets pretty gunky. Even if you cover things you’ll still wind up with bits of food splattered everywhere. Here’s a quick way to clean them:
In a large, shallow bowl, combine:
Put in the center of the microwave and “cook” at full power for ten (10) minutes. Remove the bowl and wipe the inside with a rag; the gunge should come off with no effort.
I saw this taped to a friend’s microwave; it looked like it may have been from “Hints from Heloise” that she had clipped from some magazine (but I don't know for sure).
