3/4 lb green beans 2 strips bacon, cut into short strips 1/4 inch wide in 5qt sauteuse pan cook bacon 'til almost crispy drain fat return bacon to pan, add beans, barely cover with water add a pinch of salt bring to a boil, reduce to simmer, cover cook 2.5 - 3 hours, adding water if necessary next time, maybe saute a bit of onion in some of the bacon grease
